The ultimate guide to working at Bank

2nd October 2025

The ultimate guide to working in Bank provides you with a compelling list of reasons for choosing EC2 as the location of your office. From coffee shops to national landmarks, we have you covered.  So many of the capital’s hotspots are right on your doorstep (alongside a multitude of transport links). Your team are bound to love working in this area!

Coffee

First things first.  Where will your team buy their morning coffee?

Independents – We love new kids on the block OBA Coffee on Basinghall Avenue, who are already impressing with their service and lovingly made coffee and chai.

Chains – All of the usual cafes are there to suit those loyal to one particular brand – Blank St, Black Sheep Coffee etc. Also worth a mention is Ravello on Telegraph St. They are a small London chain with 5 locations, serving authentic Italian coffee (and delicious freshly made focaccia sandwiches if you’re dropping by at lunch).

Lunch

Not everyone brings their lunch from home, so what options are available?

Chains – The ever popular meal deal chains, such as Tesco are on offer, alongside Itsu, Coco di Mama and Garbanzos Falafel & Salad Bar.

IndependentsAlfredo’s Sandwich Bar on Mason Avenue is a classic made to order café. They offer the a great selection of fillings, alongside jacket potatoes and hot options like lasagne. If bagels are your thing try Maples, London Wall, for authentic fillings like cream cheese and lox and salt beef.

After work drinks

You are literally spoilt for choice for drinks venues in this area, especially classic City pubs, such as:

The Token House – An elegant high-ceilinged Fullers pub which is always buzzing and serves decent pub classics food.

The Globe – If a pie and a pint is your idea of a good after work gathering then a Nicholson’s pub is always a great option.  The Globe is a beautiful building, over 150 years old and offers a warm welcome.

The Anthologist – A sophisticated bar and restaurant with a good blend of more casual, formal and outdoor seating areas.  Great wine and cocktail selection.  It does get busy, so booking is essential.

Entertainment

Clays offers virtual clay pigeon shooting in a bar environment, along with late night DJs and a great menu. All the ingredients for a fun team night out!

Culture

The Bank of England Museum – The iconic Bank of England building which commuters scurry past every day houses a museum. Their Curator-led tours are worth looking out for.

Top EC2 landmarks

There are some incredible listed  landmark buildings in this area.  However, a visit to Leaden Hall Market, The Sky Garden and the Monument to The Great Fire of London are all worthwhile.

So, there you have it, the ultimate guide to working in Bank.  We hope that you found it a useful tool in your new office search.
