Building Spotlight: LentaSpace The Chandlery, Waterloo

LentaSpace The Chandlery is just 10 minutes’ walk from Waterloo Station and houses 208 workstations across 32 varied size offices and two mtg rooms in a redbrick Victorian building and externally accessed mews houses.  It attracts a mix of clients, from therapists to engineering companies and offers a great value office option in central London, with many clients taking advantage of our Name Your Price special offer to find a new office within their budget.

Chandlery client, Callan Method Organisation Ltd, moved into the building in 2016.  The company are publishers of a method for teaching English and Spanish as a foreign language and they have a global customer base of language schools and teachers.  Their team includes 13 full time staff plus various freelance and part-time people, with a core team of five based in London.  “We wanted a serviced office in the Waterloo area as the transport links here work best for most of our team”, says Carole Dukes, the company’s Managing Director.  “We also wanted flexibility as we were not sure whether we would expand or contract the London team over time”.

Like many small companies, the serviced office set up suits Callan Method because, “We don’t have any admin or support staff so it’s great to have all the office infrastructure issues handled by LentaSpace.  Also, we cannot always guarantee that someone will be on site all the time 9 to 5, Monday to Friday, so it’s great to have the reception to take deliveries etc. It’s also very useful to be able to drop off at reception anything we want to be posted – we couldn’t justify our own franking machine for our volume of post, and it saves lots of trips to the post office!”

The Chandlery is well positioned for transport links, just ten minutes walk from London Waterloo Station, Lambeth underground station (Bakerloo line) and on major bus routes across South London.  “Personally, it’s very easy to commute here for me,” Carole says, “as I live near Kingston which has regular trains into Waterloo and then I can walk from there.  She also appreciates what the local area has to offer, “Lower Marsh is great for all the cafes, street food stalls etc.” The building is also close to The Imperial War Museum, with its fabulous gardens, a great outdoor spot for lunch.
