Chains –  The usual meal deal chains  including Sainsburys and Tesco, plus Pret a Manger, Boots and Costa.

Independents – Masters café (109-115 Blackfriars Rd) is an SE1 must visit, with its wide choice of made to order salads, sandwiches and jacket potatoes plus a daily menu of hot choices – great service too. Also, check out The Bridge Social, a not for profit café supporting women’s health and wellbeing, offering a vegetarian and plant based seasonal menu.

After work drinks

The Market Porter – Traditional Victorian, wood panelled pub in Borough Market, always lively with drinkers spilling out onto the street. Don’t miss the upstairs dining room, offering a classy take on pub classics.

The Rake – Serious about your beer?  Try this tiny local tucked behind Borough Market with an ever changing offering of beers.

Top  SE1 landmarks

Thames Path – Walk from Waterloo to London Bridge for fabulous river views and London Landmarks, including The National Theatre, Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe.

Borough Market – Head to Borough Market for an authentic London market experience (est. 1756) whether before work, at lunch or in the evening.  There is something for everyone with amazing food stalls, selling spices, cheese and international delicacies to take home; alongside  traditional butchers and fishmongers and a wide choice of pub and restaurants.
