The Ultimate Guide to working in Spitalfields

28th May 2025

The ultimate guide to working in Spitalfields provides you with a compelling list of reasons for choosing E1 as the location of your next office.  From coffee shops to national landmarks, we have you covered.  So many of the capital’s hotspots are right on your doorstep (alongside a multitude of transport links) that your team are bound to love working in this area!

Coffee

First things first.  Where will your team buy their morning coffee?

Independents – So many independent options  to try out around Spitalfields Market that you are literally spoilt for choice.  We love Nagare Coffee and Potter & Reid.

Chains – All of the usual cafes are there to suit those loyal to one particular brand – Pret a Manger, Black Sheep Coffee, Soho Coffee etc. Also worth a mention are small London chains,  Noxy Brothers and Arabica.

Lunch

Not everyone brings their lunch from home, so what options are available?

Chains – The ever popular meal deal chains, such as Tesco are on offer, alongside Itsu, Coco di Mama and Garbanzos Falafel & Salad Bar.

Independents – There are countless cafes, restaurants, and street food options at Spitalfields Market. You could eat somewhere different every day of the month! Stand outs include Dumpling Shack, Crunch for sandwiches and Piaddina Brothers for Italian deli.  For more a formal sit down lunch if you were entertaining clients, Brother Marcus is a great option.

After work drinks

This area is known for having some really classic East End pubs.

The Ten Bells – Opposite the market, describes itself as a “historic East End boozer with a rock and roll twist.” A busy pub offering cocktails alongside the usual pub drinks.

The Duke of Wellington – A locals pub.  Notably has a beer garden, which is a rarity in the area and live music.

The Golden Heart –  Quirky, individual pub with character and  a lively atmosphere, this is the opposite of a chain pub experience.

Culture

Lots of interesting galleries to explore, including The Whitechapel Gallery and Stolen Space with their regularly changing modern art exhibitions and 2nd hand book shops on Brick Lane.

Top  E1 landmarks

Brick Lane with its funky street art, international food, and unique vintage fashion has long been an iconic area with locals and tourists alike.  Head her for an authentic curry and a quirky local vibe.

Spitalfields Market is the central hub of this area with its vintage clothes stalls, high end boutiques and every type of street food imaginable.
